About Patrick
Biography
Patrick received his musical training at the University of British Columbia’s School of Music, studying piano with Dr. Henri-Paul Sicsic, chamber music with Professor Lee Kum-Sing and Doctor Terrence Dawson, and lieder collaboration with Professor Rena Sharon. After graduation, he continued advanced studies with Dr. Sicsic for an additional seven years. Through Dr. Sicsic, Patrick traces his pianistic lineage to composer Gabriel Fauré and pianist Alfred Cortot.
For the past 30 years, he has been teaching in his private studio in the Dunbar area, and many of his students have gone on to pursue further studies as well as careers in music.
Patrick is also president of The Vancouver Chopin Society, where he has been intimately involved with the selection of artists to be presented in concert. Because of this, he has forged close relationships with many artists who have appeared under the society’s auspices. In 2024, he published album notes for pianist Zlata Chochieva’s new recording (Naïve Records, France).

He is a student of the Alexander Technique, a method that works to change movement habits in everyday activities, with the aim to improve ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination.
For three years, he was also chair of the jury of the Architecture of Music piano competition in Vancouver. In 2025, he was a member of the jury of the VSO School of Music’s Future of Excellence Competition.

In May of 2026, the Polish government awarded Patrick the Bene Merito medal for his contribution to Polish culture.

Patrick is passionate about musical education, as well as supporting young musicians as they find their way in their musical path.
